Leadership transition in place for Briercrest women's basketball

Posted: December 4, 2019

Briercrest College Athletics has decided to release women’s basketball head coach Danny Vincent effective December 3rd, 2019.

Due to coaching philosophy and behaviours not aligning with the vision of Briercrest Athletics, Vincent will no longer continue with the team. Assistant coach Perry Martens will remain with the Clippers for the duration of the 2019/2020 season.

The Clippers have risen to a 6–3 record and are ranked 5th in the CCAA as of December 3rd, 2019.

“The overall vision of Briercrest Athletics is to develop life champions who compete and win at the CCAA level, learning and growing through failure and success while having their identity rooted in who they are in Jesus Christ,” states Director of Athletics Stan Peters.

Prior to stepping into the role of Director of Athletics Peters served as head coach of the Briercrest men’s basketball team for 10 years, which included 6 CCAA national championship appearances, a silver medal in 1991, and the Coach of the Year honors in 1993.

“A key to developing life champions is to provide a transformational experience led by transformational coaches. Transformational coaching is focused on the person. It is a process and it requires a growth mindset, and feedback that promotes learning,” says Peters.

“Going forward it is with this framework in mind that we strive to compete and win at the highest athletic levels we can."
