Exemplary Student Scholarship – A $5,000 Award for every Christian School

We are excited to offer the Exemplary Student Scholarship once again this year. This is a $5,000 award, disbursed over three years. There is one award available for every Christian high school per year. The recipient must have been recommended by a staff member as having demonstrated exemplary Christian character, maintained a high level of academic achievement, and have plans to attend Briercrest.

Scholarship Criteria

Briercrest’s Exemplary Student Scholarship is intended for individuals who are attending Christian high schools and have been recommended by a staff member as exemplary students in their graduating year.

The student selected for this scholarship must meet the following four criteria:

have demonstrated exemplary Christian character.
have maintained a high level of academic achievement in their graduating class (80% or higher overall average as calculated by our admissions requirements*)
plans to study at Briercrest.
has been recommended by a staff member to receive this scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

The amount is fixed at $5000 and disbursed over 3 successive years as follows:

Year 1 – $1,000

Year 2 – $2,000

Year 3 – $2,000

For referring high school staff

There is a limit of one scholarship per Christian high school per year.

The referring staff member is encouraged to refer as many students as they feel meet the criteria. After the recipient submission deadline, May 1, 2026, has passed, the referring staff member will be notified of all qualifying recipients from your high school (i.e. recipients that meet the recipient criteria) and will be invited to select the award recipient from that list. If the referring staff member does not wish to select the award recipient, the decision will be deferred to Briercrest staff to select the recipient from your high school.

For this scholarship to be offered to a student from your school, your high school must be operating as a private Christian high school that awards provincially accredited high school diplomas to its graduates.

All applications will be reviewed for eligibility, and an award letter will be sent to the recipient and the referring staff member. Award confirmation letters will be sent from our administrative office by the end of May.

For the referred student

In addition to the four criteria previously stated, recipients should be aware of the following eligibility criteria:

They must have received an offer of early acceptance to Briercrest College (Official acceptance pending final official transcript received and reviewed after high school graduation), meeting Briercrest College admissions requirements.
The recipient must apply to enrol at Briercrest College for the fall semester immediately following their high school graduation.
Students awarded the Exemplary Student Scholarship must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 each semester.
Students must be registered for at least 12 credit hours each semester.
Students must maintain good standing in all areas.

Students who are accepted to Briercrest College but do not attend the fall following their high school graduation can still access year 2 and/or 3 of the award if they meet the eligibility criteria during the second and/or third year after receiving the scholarship. Any amount from initial semesters when the student is not in attendance at Briercrest College is forfeited. Funding will be prorated by 50% if the student attends only one semester in an eligible academic year.
