Student Responsibilities

To receive academic accommodations at Briercrest College and Seminary, students must agree to the following responsibilities:

1. Students must provide current and relevant documentation from a qualified professional (i.e. registered psychologist, medical doctor) to the Academic Resource Centre Coordinator. For students with learning disabilities, this must be a psycho-educational report. For all other students, this must be a medical verification form.

2. Students must complete this initial intake form.

3. Students must schedule a meeting with the ARC Coordinator to review the documentation, discuss past accommodations, discuss available supports, and develop a list of approved accommodations and recommended supports. A link to book an appointment will be provided when this form is submitted.

4. (Optional, but strongly advised) Students should schedule an appointment with each of their professors at the beginning of the semester to introduce themselves and discuss accommodations.

5. Students with exam accommodations are responsible for notifying the ARC Coordinator of any midterm exams through the exam request form. Late requests will be considered but are not guaranteed.

6. Students must notify the ARC Coordinator if they add or drop any course(s).

7. Students must register for academic accommodations each semester in order to continue receiving accommodations. No additional documentation is required for semester registration.

8. Students should notify the ARC Coordinator if there are any changes to their accommodation needs.

9. Students must use their academic accommodations only for the purposes that they are provided. A misuse of accommodations could result in an accommodation being removed.

10. If students are dissatisfied with the implementation of Briercrest’s Academic Accommodations and Access Policy, they can follow the Academic Review and Appeal Process as outlined in the Academic Calendar.
