Kaléo Program at a Glance
The Kaléo program is an eight-month leadership development initiative offered by Camp Qwanoes and Briercrest College for young Christian leaders. Participants live at the camp, earn one year of college credit, and engage in frontline ministry and outdoor adventures. The program combines accredited academics, leadership training, community building, and various ministry experiences to inspire and motivate students.
Each year of the Kaléo program is a little different, but every year's schedule incorporates the five components of the program so that they work together seamlessly. Some weeks students are in class, while other weeks they are on an outdoor adventure, serving on a missions trip, doing ministry in a church or at camp, or working on course assignments.
Unique Program Features
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
Kaléo students participate in a number of one- to four-night trips throughout the year, which may include a sailing voyage, backpacking up a mountain, a week-long ski and snowboard trip, a high-ropes course, staying overnight in a snow cave, kayaking, cold water surfing, hiking, and caving, to name a few!
MODULAR STYLE COURSES
Students study the Bible, theology, and Christian ministry with faculty from Briercrest. Classes are taught in modular style, with a full week of class scheduled every 3 weeks. Before and after the modular course, students will have access to resources and experienced leaders to help with their assignments.

Kaléo program is a gap-year program for students 18-23 who are looking to get their first year of studies combined with the camp environment.
