Teaching Philosophy
While I believe learning is a dual responsibility, I also believe it is the teacher's mandate to ensure students have what they need to learn. Therefore, I will endeavor to determine what students need from me in order to learn the concepts.
I believe that it is essential we teach in such a way as to encourage “Creative thinking” as well as “Critical thinking”. While both of these are important, I want to teach in a way that encourages “creative” thinking first then secondly “critical” thinking.
Background
I spent most of my childhood as a Missionary kid in West Africa. From grade 5 on I was in boarding school. I went to Okanagan college for Electronics Engineering but left that for a business venture in sawmilling and logging. After getting married, Cheryl and I went to Prairie Bible College where I graduated with a Bachelor of Ministry. We spent seventeen years in full time pastoral ministry where I was assistant pastor and later lead. After retiring from pastoral ministry, I graduated with my MALM from Briercrest seminary. I currently own and operate two corporate farms with up to 30 staff members. I am a founding member and current president of “Thousand Hill’s Land Stewardship Foundation”. My wife and I have four children and one son-in-law and are looking forward to grandkids in the immanent future!
Research Interests
I am always interested in business ventures and am continually researching ways to add value to existing ventures as well as new ones.
